So I would really like to see the movie Creation about Charles Darwin but apparently evolution is still too controversial for anyone outside of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, and Boston. This makes me really angry. Supposedly it is a really good movie that anyone could like even a Christian, and I won't ever see it in theaters because I live in the bible belt. Man I really hate the south 99.9% of the time. The link is to a page talking about how it was hard to even find anyone to distribute it in the U.S. I guess it is already out in the rest of the world. It seems to even have some stars in it (Jennifer Connely), but we still aren't getting it. I wish I lived in New York.

Howdy. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I find it absolutely stupefying that such a high proportion of our citizenry remains ignorant of, and hostile to, the simple fact of differential survival based on variation and heritability. People nod their heads in agreement with any one of those concepts (that all creatures are not equally suited for longevity; that living creatures within a species show a natural degree of variability; that we pass characteristics on to our kids). But when putting them together threatens the centrality of their imaginary friend, they toss out the baby, as it were.
I just think educated places look on us with fear and loathing.
Anyway. Cheers!
